Asil Nadir Fined

The Central Criminal Court Asil Nadir was ordered to pay £5 million compensation to Polly Peck International Plc in respect of losses suffered by the company.

The Hon Mr Justice Holroyde ordered that it be paid in two years and that a default prison sentence of 72 months is to apply for failure to comply with the order.

No order was made in respect of costs.

Asil Nadir was convicted of ten counts of theft amounting to nearly £29 million from Polly Peck International Plc. See SFO press release of 22 August 2012 and was, on the following day, sentenced to ten years’ imprisonment.
